CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Police say one person was killed and two others were critically injured in a multi-car accident in Clinton Township overnight.

The crash happened around midnight on Harper Avenue and Trombley Street, just south of I-94.

According to police, a gray Chrysler 300 was traveling northbound on Harper near Winners Bar when a black Chrysler 300 was turning left into the bar. The gray Chrysler struck the back-end of the other vehicle, ripping its bumper off.

At the same time, a Chevy Trailblazer was attempting to make a left turn off Trombley onto southbound Harper when it was also struck by the gray Chrysler. Both vehicles then came to rest near the I-94/Harper south exit.

The gray Chrysler was driven by a Clinton Township resident with two other passengers inside. The driver was declared dead on the scene. The rear passenger suffered critical injuries and the front seat passenger did not appear to be injured; both were taken to the hospital. Police say neither the driver nor the rear seat passenger were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the Trailblazer was taken to the hospital and was last reported in critical condition.

The driver of the black Chrysler was not injured.

At this time, police aren't sure if drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash. The posted speed limit for the area is 45 mph.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any other information is asked to contact police at 586-493-7931.
