1 Killed, 4 Injured In Port Huron Police Chase Crash

Reports say there were multiple vehicles involved

PORT HURON (WWJ) - One person was killed and four others were injured in a crash involing a police chase in Port Huron.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, as the morning rush was underway, police say the driver of a Chevy Camaro was seen driving erratically, and then took off at a high rate of speed when officers tried to make a traffic stop. 

The vehicle fled for about a mile, according to police, before crashing into an SUV at the corner of Dove and 24th Street and flipping over. 

Port Huron Police Chief Jeff Baker told the  Times Herald of Port Huron that pursuing offivers were "a distance behind" the fleeing vehicle at the time of the crash. 

An editor for WDIV-TV  in a tweet reported it was a "horrific" accident, with debris scattered for a block.

Police said two additional vehicles were involved in the crash. 

There was no information immediately released regarding the person who was killed.
