STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) The cash reward offered for information in a Sterling Heights murder is now up to $12,500.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is renewing its request for tips in the mysterious case of 33-year-old Nikolla Berishaj, who was killed early in the morning of Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

According to investigators, Berishaj, a Sterling Heights resident, was sitting in a vehicle at around 2:25 a.m., parked in the Golfpointe Village Condominium complex -- on Denver Circle North, in the area of Schoenherr and Plumbrook Roads -- when he was shot.

Berishaj died of his injuries at a local hospital.

It's unclear what the motive for the killing may have been, and no suspects have been described.

Crime Stoppers announced the increased reward on Friday, in hopes that someone in the public knows something that could help police solve this cold case.

Anyone with information about this crime should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370). As always, tipsters may stay 100 percent anonymous, will not be asked their names, to speak to police or to testify in court. Cash rewards are paid by Crime Stoppers upon an arrest.
