March 25, 2019 - 10:28 am

KALAMAZOO (WWJ) - There have been two arrests, and may be more to come, after guns were pulled during a fight at a birthday party.

No shots were fired during the incident Sunday evening, according to a news release by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Police said officers responding to a fight complaint, in the 700 block of N. Pitcher St. in Kalamazoo, found a large group of people at a party with "numerous children present."

A witness told investigators at least two armed people had fled after a fight erupted between neighbors.

Guns were drawn and pointed at people, according to witnesses, and a woman at the party suffered minor injuries during a fight. No kids were hurt.

Police arrested two 31-year-old Kalamazoo men and recovered at least three guns; although witnesses said several other people at the party were armed.

Both suspects remain lodged at Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting an arraignment on weapons charges.

Police didn't say what prompted the fight.

As an investigation continues, anyone with cell phone video of the incident or any additional information is asked to call the KDPS at 269-337-8994, the Criminal Investigation Division at 269-337-8139, or the Silent Observer anonymous tip line at 269-343-2100.
