2 In Custody Following Jewelry Heist, Neighborhood Lockdown

**UPDATE: Details Released About Costco Jewelry Heist, Manhunt In Oakland County

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WWJ) -- Two people are now in custody after an Oakland County neighborhood was placed on lockdown following a jewelry heist.

The situation unfolded Monday night when police responded to the area of 14 Mile and Maple roads in West Bloomfield after two suspects wanted in connection with an armed smash-and-grab robbery crashed their getaway car. One suspect was taken into custody, but the other fled. 

Police placed the neighborhood on lockdown, told residents to remain inside and keep their doors locked, and ordered extra patrols through the night. A helicopter was also brought in to help with the search. 

Early Tuesday morning, police said the second suspect was located in the area of Inkster and Maple roads and taken into custody. Charges are now pending.

Details about the smash-and-grab robbery haven't been released, but reports indicate it took place at the Costco in Commerce Township.
