2 Women Hospitalized After Head-On Rochester Hills Crash

One was airlifted from the scene in critical condition

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - Two young women are hospitalized after a serious injury crash in Rochester Hills.

It happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, along Livernois Rd., just north of W. Avon Rd. 

Investigators say a 24-year-old Shelby Township woman was driving northbound on Livernois in a 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan when the vehicle drifted left and crossed the center line, striking a 2005 Jeep Liberty head-on.

The driver of the Montana, who had four passengers with her in minivan, was airlifted from the scene to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital were she was listed in critical condition, the sheriff's office said. 

One of her passengers, a 23-year-old Rochester Hills woman, was hospitalized in stable condition. Three children who were in the backseat of the vehicle were not hurt, but were taken to the hospital for observation. The driver of the Jeep, identified as an 18-year-old Rochester Hills residents, complained of a minor injury but did not go to to the hospital, officials said. 

Other circumstances leading up the the crash remain unclear as the investigation continues. 

No names were released.
