PLYMOUTH (WWJ) - Hundreds of new automotive industry jobs are coming to Wayne County's Plymouth Township.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation has approved nearly $2 million in incentives for auto supplier Webasto Group to build a new manufacturing plant to help increase production for large projects for Ford and Fiat Chrysler.

The company says it will make innovative automotive roof systems at the new facility, which Plymouth Township has agreed to support with a 50-percent Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption for up to 12 years for the project.

The $48 million dollar investment is expected to create 440 jobs.

“Webasto has been a great long-time employer in Michigan. We look forward to them expanding their presence in Michigan with the addition of a major new facility in Wayne County,” said Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, in a statement.  “Their continued expansion in our region demonstrates, once again, how the strength of our region contributes to the growth of the automotive sector.”
