(WWJ) Love them or hate them ... there's a new roundabout in town.

The circular intersection meant to keep traffic moving freely should create smooth sailing for thousands of drivers who use Middlebelt and Maple Roads in West Bloomfield.

A $6.6 million roundabout project at the intersection, which started last fall, has been completed.

Maple Road, which had been closed during the work, has reopened.

Along with the new road, crews also installed new water mains and made drainage improvements.  The Road Commission for Oakland County says about 31,000 drivers go through the intersection each day.
