9-Year-Old Found Wandering Tells Police He Is Being Beaten At Home

Detectives found the child had marks all over his body.

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - A young boy found walking along a busy road in Auburn Hills telling police he ran away from home because he was being beaten. 

According to police, the 9-year-old Pontiac boy said his mother had been hitting him over the past two weeks with an extension cord. Deputies found the boy to have marks, old and new, all over his body - from what appeared to confirm the child's accusation. 

A few minutes into the investigation the mother of the child called dispatch to report the child missing from a residence on Ridgemont according to a police report. 

The child was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for medical care and child protective services called. The mom, 29, lives in Pontiac. 

Police continue to investigate.
