Sun behind clouds

After Possible Mid-Week Snow, Temps Rise Near 70 Sunday

DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan's weather is known for being unpredictable and this week is a perfect example of why.

After a couple days of partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 50s, forecasters say we will go from possibly seeing snow showers on Thursday to sunshine and temperatures near 70 this weekend.

"We're going to take a step back on Thursday with some rain or snow showers in Metro Detroit. I think the steadiest rain that could be mixed with some wet snow is to the south of the city," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore. "The high on Thursday will be just 43 and then cloudy and a little milder on Friday, the high getting up to 54."

Once the weekend finally rolls around, DeVore said it will feel more like spring.

"It perks up on Saturday to near 60 -- that looks like the better day of the weekend," he said. "Then it will cloud up and it looks like some rain back in on Sunday."

Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60s on Sunday.

Here's a look at the forecast from the WWJ Weather Team:

Tuesday -- Periods of clouds and sunshine. High 51. Low 37.

Wednesday -- Some sun, then increasing clouds. High 54. Low 35.

Thursday -- Cloudy, a rain or snow shower in spots; cooler. High 40. Low 34.

Friday -- A couple of morning showers; otherwise, mostly cloudy. High 52. Low 39.

Saturday -- Times of clouds and sun. High 60. Low 44.

Sunday -- Mostly cloudy, a couple of showers possible; mild. High 67. Low 49.
