June 14, 2018 - 4:47 pm

ROMULUS (WWJ) - A 44-year-old Allen Park man is jailed on more than a dozen charges after authorities say he shot at police during a chase.

Christopher Michael Willoughby -- who had five guns and several thousand rounds of ammunition in his car when he was arrested -- was spotted driving erratically in Sumpter Township, Monday night, according to police. Sumpter Township police responded, and Willoughby allegedly sped off, leading officers on a pursuit from Wayne County into Washtenaw County.

Willoughby fired at least five shots at the cops, according to prosecutors, before the chase ended as Willoughby crashed into a patrol car near the Sumpter-Milan border. Two Sumpter officers suffered what were described as minor injuries in the crash, police said, but no one was wounded by gunfire.

Willoughby was arrested at the scene and arraigned in 34th District Court Thursday afternoon on the following thirteen count warrant authorized by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office:

•    Assault with intent to murder
•    Assault with intent to great bodily harm
•    Assault with a dangerous weapon - Felonious assault (2 counts)
•    Fleeing & Eluding - 3rd degree
•    Operating while intoxicated
•    Weapons - Carrying concealed (3 counts)
•    Possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle (2 counts)
•    Felony firearm

Bond was set at $1 million for Willoughby, who will be back in court for a probable cause conference on June 27.
