September 20, 2018 - 5:32 pm

ORION TWP. (WWJ) - An Orion Township man is facing charges after crashing an SUV into a house.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 36-year-old driver's Jeep Cherokee ended up inside the kitchen of the home along Joslyn Rd. in Orion Township, late Wednesday night.

The damage to the house was extensive, but no one inside was injured.

Investigators said the driver crawled through the sunroof and ran off after the crash, but was found by a K9 team a short time later, hiding in a bush wearing only boxer shorts.

The man, who deputies said appeared to be "highly intoxicated" but refused a breathalyzer test, has a previous drunken driving conviction and had his driver's license suspended several times.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be checked out and for a blood alcohol test. His name is being withheld pending an arraignment.
