COMINS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- The search is on for a 2-year-old girl from Metro Detroit who was reported missing in northern Michigan Monday morning.

The Oscoda County Sheriff's Office says they were called to a camp site on Reber Road, just west of M-33 around 8:15 a.m. Monday, where a family from the Monroe area reported that their 2-year-old girl, Gabriella Vitale, was missing.

The family had been Up North camping and was preparing to leave this morning, when they realized Gabriella was missing. Michigan State Police believe she wandered away from the camp site in Comins Township, about 40 miles east of Grayling.

Authorities from the sheriff's office, State Police, and Michigan Department of Natural Resources are all searching for the girl. MSP says they are using K-9 units and a helicopter.

She was last seen wearing a pink zip-up coat and pink bottoms, but State Police say the girl's jacket was found several hundred yards southeast of where she went missing. She is believed to be wearing a gray shirt and tennis shoes.

State Police say anyone who finds clothing should not touch it, so their scent is not on it as K-9 units try to track the girl down.

Anyone with information should contact the Oscoda Central Dispatch Center at 989-826-3214.
