Baby, 2 Others Rushed To Hospital After Livernois Crash

October 11, 2018 - 12:53 pm

DETROIT (WWJ) - Three people, including a baby, were rushed by EMS to a local hospital following a crash in Southwest Detroit.

Two wrecked vehicles had to be towed away following the serious accident involving a Dodge Neon and an SUV that shut down northbound Livernois at Michigan Ave., Thursday  morning.

All three injured people were in the Neon, according to authorities. They were reported to be in stable condition at Henry Ford Hospital later in the morning. No further details about them, including their ages, were released.

The woman who was driving the SUV was not hurt.

Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Vickie Thomas said two more drivers gawking at the wreckage caused a second crash on eastbound Michigan Ave., just east of Livernois. No injuries were reported in connection with that incident.

Local resident Jimmy Dancer said it's a bad intersection; this being the second crash he's seen there there in a month or so.

"People on their phone and not paying attention. Plus, the light is yellow...that means, caution, it don't mean keep going," Dancer said. "It's rough, it's rough."

N. Livernois was closed at Michigan Ave. following the crashed but has since reopened.
