Sheriff: Barefoot Water Skier Hurt In Crash With Boat On Oakland County Lake

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - A 47-year-old man was taken to a local hospital after he crashed into a boat while water skiing over the weekend.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's office the manm identified as a Waterford Township resident, was waterskiing barefoot behind a boat on Scott Lake, Sunday evening, when he left go of the ski ropes with the intention of gliding toward the shoreline.  

Shortly, after letting go, the skier collided with an anchored pontoon boat near the dock, the sheriff's office said, in the 3200 block of McCormick Street. 

Deputies from the OCSO Marine Unit, along with paramedics, responded as the man was brought to shore. 

The skier was treated for minor injuries at the scene before he was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital for further evaluation.

No one else was hurt.
