CLAY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities believe the body of a man who has been missing since jumping into the St. Clair River last Friday night has been found.

The Sheriff's Department says a relative of 21-year old Riley Gleason rented a plane and spotted the body near Russell Island around 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

Algonac Fire and Rescue sent a boat into the area and located the body, which was taken back to shore and then transported to the morgue. The St. Clair County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an examination to positively identify the body, but police believe it is Gleason.

Gleason had jumped off a boat while on the river behind the St. Clair Inn around 9 p.m. on July 12. He immediately began calling for help but despite attempts from friends, Gleason disappeared under the water.
