(WWJ) There's a boil water advisory in effect in the city of Westland, as residents experience low pressure and potentially dirty water.

In a notice posted on its website, the city says the Great Lakes Water Authority had been working on a valve repair near Merriman and Cherry Hill without notifying the city first and that's what led to the issue.

The city says many residents have been without water due to issues related to the repair.

If their water is running, residents in the area of Cherry Hill to Michigan Avenue, and Henry Ruff to Venoy are being advised to boil their it before consuming it until further notice.
