TROY (WWJ) - A 42-year-old man accused of killing his mother and stuffing her body in a bedroom closet, where it was concealed for days, has been ordered held without bond.

Uriah Lee Scott was arraigned Saturday on a charge of open murder in the death of his 61-year-old mother, Cynthia Scott.

Police initially to the Troy Villa Mobile Home Community on Wednesday night for a welfare check on Cynthia Scott, who hadn't been seen or heard from since Monday. During the course of their investigation, officers located her body covered in debris and stuffed into a closet in the back bedroom of her home.

An autopsy indicated Cynthia Scott died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

Police say Uriah Scott had recently moved in with his mother, but they haven't released a motive in the killing.

Uriah Scott was taken into custody the same day his mother's body was found. Police say he was located at a friend's home in Oak Park, where he had been staying since Monday.

Another person who lives at the Scott home was taken in for questioning, but was released without charged and is not suspected to be involved in the crime.

Neighbor Paul Anderson told WWJ's Charlie Langton a strange incident happened at the home earlier this week.

"Just a couple days ago, a younger man, like 20 or something, comes out of that house screaming about satan, the devil and the end of the world, telling me to redeem myself and Jesus saves. It was just a bunch of gibberish about the devil and god. It was crazy," he said.

Uriah Scott remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail.
