Canton Man Charged With Drunk, Reckless Driving In Fatal Crash

WAYNE (WWJ) - Authorities say a 25-year-old Canton Township man drove drunk, causing a crash that killed a West Bloomfield woman.

Tyler Robinson is charged with Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and Reckless Driving Causing Death in connection with the incident in Wayne last Friday. 

According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, investigators determined that, at around 11:30 p.m. on July 6, Robinson ran a red light at Wayne Rd. and Michigan Ave. and crashed into a car, killing the 54-year-old victim. 

Wayne police officers dispatched to crash scene said they smelled an odor of intoxicants on Robinson. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was arrested the following day.

Robinson received a $500,000 cash bond at an arraignment in 29th District Court in Wayne on Monday

He will be back in court for a probable cause conference scheduled for Tuesday, July 17.
