Car 'Totally Crushed' Under Semi Truck On Mound Road In Warren

December 13, 2018 - 2:45 pm

WARREN (WWJ) - A section of Mound Road is expected to remain closed for hours as police investigate a horrific crash involving a car and a semi truck.

One person was critically injured in the accident Thursday afternoon, in Warren, according to police.

"A car traveling southbound on Mound Road from 12 Mile Road rear-ended a semi truck and went underneath the truck, and the victim was pinned in for probably 25 minutes before they could get him out," Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said.

The crash horrified passing motorists like Pastor Roderick Richardson, who called WWJ Newsradio 950 to report the crash, just after 1 p.m.

"It appears that the vehicle is totally crushed up under a truck," Richardson told WWJ's Sandra McNeill.

The victim was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. No information about the man has been released.

As an investigation continues, Dwyer said it's unclear if the driver of the car was following too closely, or what else might have led to the crash.

As of 2:45 p.m., police remained on the scene with all lanes of southbound Mound blocked at 12 Mile.
