Child Killed, Woman Critically Injured In Hamtramck House Fire

HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) - A young child is dead, a woman is in critical condition and two firefighters are injured after fire ripped through a home in Hamtramck.

The fire took off around 1:15 a.m. Friday at a home in the 13000 block of Mackay, near Joseph Campau Avenue and the Davison freeway.

Officials say a 20-year-old woman and five children were inside the home when the fire broke out. 

A 2-year-old boy was killed, a 3-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, and the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other children -- a 6-month-old, 2-year-old and 5-year-old -- were not injured. 

Two firefighters were also injured during the incident. They were treated and released from the hospital. 

A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
