Clinton, Biden To Speak At Dingell Funeral Services

Funerals will be held in Dearborn on Tuesday and Washington, DC Thursday

WWJ -- Former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Joe Biden will be among the speakers at the funeral services for former U.S. Rep. John Dingell.

Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in American history and a master of legislative deal-making, died at his home in Dearborn a day after his wife announced he was in hospice care.

Biden will speak at Tuesday's funeral, set for 11 a.m. in Dearborn at Church Of The Divine Child, 1055 North Silvery Lane, Dearborn, MI 48128. This event is open to the public. A visitation is scheduled for Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, located at 15801 Michigan Avenue.

Both are open to the public.

Reps. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, and John Lewis, D-Georgia are also set to speak Tuesday. Pallbearers for Tuesday's service in Michigan will be former staffers of Dingell's.

Clinton, a former hunting buddy of Dingell's, will speak Thursday at the service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, Washington, DC.

Former House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio -- the last speaker that Dingell served under -- and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland will also speak Thursday in the nation's capital. Pallbearers Thursday will include former members of Congress and colleagues of Mr. Dingell.
