Clinton Township Police Searching For Driver In Hit-And-Run Near School

March 14, 2019 - 4:22 pm

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Clinton Township police are searching for a driver wanted in a pedestrian hit-and-run near Fraser High School.

Captain Richard Maierle said a car making a left turn from northbound Klein onto 15 Mile Road, just after 7 a.m. Thursday, struck a 16-year-old student.

Luckily, the teen sustained only minor injuries. As a precaution, he was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

"The speed limit there would be 25 miles an hour...and, you know, he's crossing in the crosswalk there," Maierle told WWJ Newsradio 950. "So, the vehicle was not on 15 Mile, which has a higher speed limit...they're not going that fast there on Klein."

"They just kind of swiped him," he added, "and he suffered some scratches to his left arm."

The suspect vehicle is described as a silver Dodge Neon, but there are few other details.

"No one was able to obtain a license plate, or no one observed the driver in the car for any kind description," Maierle said.

As an investigation continues, anyone who may know the suspect in this case, or who can better describe the vehicle, is asked to call Clinton Township police at 586-493-7800.
