WESTLAND (WWJ) - Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a what they believe was a deliberate crash into a home in Westland.

According to Westland police, security camera footage shows the suspect parked his pickup truck in a residential driveway on Van Born Rd. for about five hours, early in the morning of August 19, before he intentionally drove into the house.

"Seeing as how we haven't been able to locate him or talk to him I can't really speak to his intention here," Sgt. Robert Wilkie told WWJ's Sandra McNeill. "What I can tell you that is factual is that he did, for some reason or another, find his way into the backyard, strike the house, strike the garage, strike a vehicle that wss parked in back and then, yeah, he tried to open the door and see who was inside, it looked like."

The door was locked, however, and the suspect failed to get in, then getting back into his truck and leaving the area at around 8:30 a.m.

Wilkie said the suspect is not known the the residents of the home, who were not injured.

Investigators have been working for months on the case, Wilkie said, but they've exhausted all leads.

"You can speculate a number of reasons why this man would've ended up in the backyard and done the thing that he did," Wilkie added, "But, like I said, at the end of the day what we have here is we have somebody whose property is damaged and we're trying to figure out who that person is so that we can hold them responsible for damaging the property."

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 25-30 years old with tattoos covering both arms.  He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Tips are being sought from the public as an investigation continues. Anyone who can identify the suspect should call Westland police at 734-467-3194.
