DETROIT (WWJ) - Two Detroit city employees were left with injuries after a "prank gone wrong" involving firecrackers and a toilet.

The incident happened Wednesday at the fire department's repair shop near Eastern Market. The two mechanics were both injured when they went to sit down on a toilet, which set off firecrackers.

Fire officials say the two didn't suffer any serious injuries, but were hospitalized and should be OK.

Police are now handling the investigation as more toilets are believed to be rigged with pyrotechnics.

Investigators are asking the person responsible to come forward.
