Detroit To Host 'Scaled Back' Outdoor Music Concerts, Food Trucks And Park Workouts Amid Pandemic

(WWJ) A night market with vendors, a daily lunch gathering, public workouts and a series of concerts are on tap for Detroit parks the rest of this summer.

As concerns rage about social distancing and other measures to fight a pandemic, Detroit has opened its parks and planned events for congregating while urging people to stay safe.

For every event, Detroit encourages these safety Guidelines in the Downtown Detroit Parks

1. Stay home if you feel sick
2. Masks or face coverings are required
3. Maintain 6ft of physical distance between others
4. Frequently use hand washing stations located in every park

Friday brings a farmer's market and a local ice cream truck. Live music will also be held in the Campus Martius beach, which includes 200 pounds of sand, a walk-up bar and outdoor dining at the Fountain Detroit. Shows will run 4-9 p.m. Fridays through Sept. 4. reports attendance is capped at 100, and security will enforce social distancing where needed.

Frozen II will be shown on a big screen in Campus Martius Park this Saturday while visitors are urged to "eat, drink and dance' at a night market featuring live music and local vendors. 

This Friday will feature the funky reggae services of guitarist Ras Kente and Kamal Amen-Ra Trio, followed by DJ Eddie Riott.

Sunday brings cardio kickboxing and a free family karate class and a free community yoga class.

The city is also hosting an eating in the park experience 11 a.m.-3p.m. daily at Cadillac Square, following this schedule:
