DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit man has been ordered held on a $1 million bond in connection with a crash that killed a teenager on a mini bike.

Decarious Terrell Davis-O’Neal, 24, was arraigned in 36th District Court Friday on one count of Reckless Driving Causing Death, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, it's alleged that, a little after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Davis-O’Neal was speeding northbound on Helen St. near Robinwood St. in Chevy Impala, when he lost control of his vehicle.

He struck the 15-year-old victim, investigators say, as the boy was sitting stationary on a mini bike on the sidewalk in front of a home. The teen was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he died, and an investigation by Detroit police led to Davis-O’Neal's arrest at the scene.

Davis-O’Neal will be back in court for a  Probable Cause Conference scheduled for June 24, following by a Preliminary Examination set for July 1.

Authorities are not releasing the teen's name at this time.
