Detroit Police Searching For Suspect In Fatal Shooting At Funeral Reception

A day of mourning led to a deadly shooting in Detroit.

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a funeral repass over the weekend.

Detroit police say around 6 p.m. on April 13 a 42-year-old man was shot and killed while at the funeral reception in the 10000 block of Whittier Avenue, north of I-94 on the city's east side.

Authorities say the suspect had gotten into a verbal altercation with one of the victim's relatives prior to the shooting. The suspect exited the facility where the reception was held in a silver 2005 Cadillac SRX truck with an improper Michigan License Plate DFC-1679. Police did not disclose where the repass was held.

Police describe the suspect as a 42-year-old black male with a stocky build, black hair, brown eyes and medium complexion. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. He was last seen wearing a black  hooded sweatshirt with white lining, blue jeans and white sneakers.
