DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a pair of suspects wanted in connection to a homicide on the city's east side over the summer.

Police say around 2 a.m. on Aug. 20 a 40-year-old man was on his cell phone in the area of Mt. Elliott Street and East Grand Boulevard when two men got out of separate vehicles and fatally shot him.

The two suspects then returned to their vehicles and fled the scene westbound on Palmer.

Police released a photo of one of the vehicles. Authorities say one of the suspects was driving a silver or gray vehicle, believed to be either a Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Marauder with 20" rims.

The other suspect was driving an unknown black sedan.

Both men were wearing all dark clothing and were armed.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.
