Detroit Police: Suspect Wanted For Double Shooting On City's East Side

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating the man they say shot two people on the city's east side last month.

Authorities say around 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 19 a 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were at their red 2004 Dodge in the 16000 block of East Warren.

That's when a man approached them and fired shots. Both victims were hit by the gunfire. The male victim was killed, while the woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, believed to bein his late 30s, with a slim build. He is bald, clean shaven and was last seen wearing a light colored bulky coat.

Nearby surveillance footage captured the suspect fleeing the scene in a dark colored, newer model Chevy Malibu or Impala.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect in the composite sketch, recognizes the the vehicle or knows of his whereabouts to contact the department's homicide unit at 313-596-2260. Calls can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
