Detroit Is The Worst U.S. City To Drive In, According To Study

(WWJ) The Motor City has been deemed the worst large city to drive in nationwide. 

That's according to the personal finance website WalletHub, which ranked Detroit dead last out of 100 major cities across the U.S. based on "29 key indicators of driver-friendliness."

The benchmarks considered by researchers included cost of vehicle ownership and maintenance, average hours of traffic delays, gas prices, infrastructure, safety, auto-repair shops per capita, and access to vehicles.

It's notable that Detroit was tied for the top car theft rate (per 1,000 residents) with Albuquerque, New Mexico, which was number 76 on the list, and Oakland, California, which came in at number 98. Gilbert, Arizona, meanwhile, had the fewest car thefts. 

If you're a driver looking for new digs, you should not the best cities to drive in, according to the report, are Raleigh, North Carolina; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Orlando, Florida. 

You'll want to avoid San Francisco, California, which just was ranked second to worst.
