Detroit Medical Center is hosting the Get Healthy Expo tomorrow, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church on Schaefer Highway.

Over 100 medical professionals will be in attendance, providing those who come with free screenings to check blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol among other things.

Doctor Patricia Wilkerson-Uddyback, DMC's corporate vice president for community affairs, says that any and all are invited.

“It’s for anybody who wants to become healthy. That includes anyone who might be dealing with some health challenges. Maybe they have questions they want to run past someone. Maybe they want to find out if some of the things their current provider may be telling them is accurate.”

DMC will allow those in attendance the chance to meet with trained professionals, in private, to address all their health needs.

“People who come will be able to speak to some of our top-notch physicians,” said Wilkerson-Uddyback, “one-on-one to get some advice or any questions they have about their health answered.”

The expo will also demonstrate how in incorporate fitness into your everyday life as well as improve your eating habits.

“We’re going to have cooking demonstrations with some top chefs. We’re going to offer people a lot of great ideas for healthy recipes and healthy cooking.”
