June 08, 2018 - 10:35 am

CANTON (WWJ) - Police say a man was ejected from his vehicle and killed after getting a flat tire on I-275 in Canton.

It happened around 6:50 a.m. Friday just as the commute was ramping up along northbound I-275 at Ford Road.

According to police, a 39-year-old man lost control of his 1996 Ford when the vehicle sustained a blown flat tire. The vehicle rolled over and the driver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was ejected. He suffered fatal injuries.

The victim's name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.

A section of I-275 was closed for several hours, creating a multi-mile traffic backup, but has since re-opened.

Newsradio 950's Murray Feldman reports that these types of accidents are more common than you may think.
