"We're taking over Lodge!"

(WWJ) A video posted to Twitter Saturday shows a group of cars blocking the Lodge Freeway in Detroit Friday night so other cars can turn donuts.

That's right: One of the busiest freeways in the metro area was blocked off while people hooted, hollered, walked and spun their cars on it.

Amid the screech of tires, one woman on the video yells: "We're taking over Lodge, N-word," and "We're on the Lodge with it." One man stands to watch from the roof of a car parked in the middle of the freeway. Others stroll around, coming close to cars that appear to be spinning out of control.

See the video below, but note that it contains strong language and racial epithets.

Police eventually did show up, but those involved were able to get away before they arrived.

But don't think they're just letting it go. In a statement posted to Facebook Detroit Police Chief James Craig said,“We are not going tolerate this blatant disregard for public safety in our city.”

This is the latest in a string of people using roadways in illegal ways in Detroit. There have been numerous reports of drivers on ATVs weaving dangerously in and out of traffic, causing mayhem.

Residents told Charlie Langton they've been a nuisance with speeding, chasing each other and doing wheelies on local roads.
