EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police caught one suspect but are still looking for three others in connection with a smash and grab robbery at a pharmacy in Eastpointe.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday at the Walgreens at 10 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

Police say a group of thieves used a stolen pickup truck to smash through drive up pharmacy window. Officers arrived on the scene as the suspects were leaving, then gave chase for about 5.5 miles until the suspects crashed at Nottingham and Grayton, near I-94 and Morang in Detroit.

Four suspects fled on foot after the crash. Officers were able to catch one suspect, but the others got away. Police also recovered two safes filled with narcotics.

Investigators say the suspects may be responsible for as many as 20 other smash and grab robberies around the Detroit area.
