Employee Dies At Cryogenic Business In Monroe County

OTTAWA LAKE (WWJ) - Authorities are investigating after a 29-year-old worker died while on the job in Monroe County. 

Police responded to Erie Technologies in Ottawa Lake, just above the Ohio state line, around 3:30 p.m. Thursday after getting a call about an unconscious employee. Deputies arrived to find the man unresponsive inside an industrial work area.

Authorities performed CPR and other life saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say the man had no visible signs of trauma, and the cause of death is still under investigation. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy. 

This case remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also assisting with the investigation.
