FERNDALE, Mich. (WWJ) -- Ferndale police are investigating after their department, along with the fire department and residents, received anti-gay letters in the mail.

Police say the letters contained anti-LGBTQ messages, citing several Bible verses, and a pamphlet titled "Doom Town."

The author mentions visiting Ferndale during the summer and noticing rainbow flags on homes and businesses.

There are no threats in the letters, but police say the language and violent tone can be construed as threatening.

Anyone who may have received a letter is asked to contact the Ferndale police department.
