DETROIT (WWJ) -- Fire crews were called to the scene of a structure fire along the Cass Corridor in Midtown Detroit Monday evening.

The fire broke out around 8 p.m. at a vacant one-story building near the intersection of Cass Avenue and Charlotte Street, between I-75 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell told WWJ the fire was put out a little more than an hour later and no injuries were reported.

The building is located a few blocks northwest of Little Caesars Arena near Founders Brewing Co. and the Masonic Temple. The bar is believed to be the former Gold Dollar Bar, a former concert venue.

Fire officials told WWJ there was a heavy fire upon their arrival and they took a defensive stance in fighting the fire.
