(WWJ) The fourth freeway shooting on consecutive days happened overnight Thursday on the Southfield Freeway, leaving lanes closed for hours.

In the latest shooting, a man told police he was traveling northbound between 7 and 8 Mile Roads at about 4:30 a.m. when a driver in a white SUV with dark tinted windows pulled in front of him.

The driving was so erratic, he said he assumed the driver was drunk.

Then he heard a loud bang and the other driver sped away.

The victim was unharmed, but discovered a bullet hole in his vehicle when he got to his destination and called police. Michigan State Police are investigating, but say so far this shooting appears to be unrelated to other freeway shootings across metro Detroit this week.

The freeway was closed at the scene for an investigation, but all lanes have since reopened.

Also being investigated is a shooting that happened at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Michigan Avenue -- the second freeway shooting this week.

In that case, a man driving east told troopers that a suspect in a red car fired shots at him.  The gunman then got off on the Livernois exit.  No one was hurt.

State Police said detectives were able to find the car overnight. Three suspect were arrested, and are expected to face charges.

Their names were not immediately released.

That gunfire came one day after a woman was shot and killed while riding in a car on the I-75 ramp to Eight Mile. State Police said the victim was in a car that was exiting onto Eight Mile early Monday morning when someone in another car pulled up and started shooting.

The 37-year old woman died at the hospital.  The man driving the car was also injured.  Information about his condition is unknown.

One suspect is now in custody for the third freeway shooting this week in metro Detroit. That gunfire took place along I-96 westbound near the Southfield Freeway, where the suspect pulled alongside the victim and took a shot at the driver's side door. In this case, police say the victim knew the shooter and it wasn't their first encounter. Detectives caught up with the suspect at his workplace and arrested him without incident.
