Friday's Blood Moon Will Bring End Of The World, Conspiracy Theorists Predict

This is referred to as the Blood Moon prophecy.

July 24, 2018 - 11:19 am

(WWJ) Here we go again: Conspiracy theorists are filling the Internet with predictions the gorgeous "blood moon" set to happen on Friday means the end of the world.

How's that? Apparently, the "blood moon brings the end of the earth" theory comes from the Book of Joel in the Bible. It is interpreted to say, "The sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes."

And there's this. A similar passage in the Book of Revelations says, "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood."

The Mirror in Great Britain says Christian ministers John Hagee and Mark Biltz first made the theory. "It stems from "the ongoing 'tetrad' - four consecutive lunary eclipses, is the indicator of the end of earth as described in the Bible in Acts 2:20 and Revelation 6:12."

Daily Star UK, says it will be the longest Blood Moon of the 21st century, lasting one hour and 43 minutes.

"This will be the second Blood Moon of the year, and it will also be the closest Mars has been to Earth in 15 years," Daily Star reports. The first Super Blue Blood Moon happened January 31 this year.

End of the world aside, there's even worse news for metro Detroit stargazers. The moon will only be visible locally on a livestream HERE.

"The rotation of the earth means that the eclipse won't be visible from anywhere in the continental United States. Those places lucky enough to see it include most of Europe, Asia, and Africa. South Asia, the Middle East and east Africa will have a full and unobstructed view — weather providing," per freep.com.
