REDFORD (WWJ) - Ever wanted to try your hand at professional ghost hunting?

The public is invited to do just that when the Motor City Ghost Hunters host their first ever "Paranormal Lock-In" at the historic Old Redford Theatre.

It's no joke, says Motor City Ghost Hunters team member, Marnie Grey, who takes investigating the paranormal pretty seriously.

"We do home investigation for people who seem that they may have some kind of activity or spiritual things in their house, and we just look for paranormal activity," Grey told WWJ's Brooke Allen. "But we're all white-lighters; there's nothing evil or satanic or anything about anything that we do."

Just in time for the Halloween season, the event will be held late on Saturday, Oct. 12, into the morning of Oct. 13.

The night will begin at 11:45 p.m. with a presentation, and then: "We're going to break everybody up into groups, and each one of the Motor City Ghost Hunters team members is going to be in a different location within the theater," Grey explained.

The groups then get 45 minutes to do an investigation with the team member.

"They're gonna show you equipment, they're gonna show you different things on how to speak to possible spirits that are located in that area," Grey said. "And then after 45 minutes you'll switch to another location."

Grey says the Redford Theatre does have a storied history which is why the location was chosen.

Tickets are $65, and anyone 21 and older is welcome.
