BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) - While most high school students are working or enjoying their summer vacations, one Birmingham teen has been fielding offers from Ivy League colleges.

Khalil Dawsey, a rising senior at Groves High School and a standout football player, has just announced his pick.

Dawsey had football scholarship offers from all of the Ivy League schools except for the University of Pennsylvania, the 17-year old cornerback for Groves, has committed to Harvard University.

He took to Twitter to announce his choice and thank his mom.

"Really, I just felt most comfortable in the area. I liked the area, I liked the city and I liked my relationship with the coaches and everything. It just felt right - I liked how the players talked about the school and it all felt right.

For now, he's focused on his senior year at Groves. "Focusing on the state championship - that's the ultimate goal."

He'll enter college in the fall of 2019.
