Gunman Starts Shooting After Friend Insulted; 1 Critically Injured

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a man was critically injured when a gunman who was apparently upset over an insult toward his friend started shooting in the middle of the night.  

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Saturday near Fenelon and Nevada avenues, just down the street from the Detroit Police Department's eleventh precinct on the east side. 

According to police, a group of men were standing on the corner when someone apparently insulted the suspect's friend. The suspect went home and allegedly armed himself with a long gun, then returned to the scene and opened fire. 

One of the men was shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital and last reported in critical condition. 

The gunman fled the scene after the shooting and remains at large. No description was provided.
