Halloween Safety: You Can Check The Sex Offender List Here

October 31, 2018 - 12:28 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - Millions of children will be logging untold miles of haunting good fun -- with the end goal of loading up a pumpkin bucket or pillowcase filled with candy.

It's Halloween and the thought of dressing up and running from house to house trick-or-treating sends kids into a sugar-filled orbit.

If your tween is pleading with you to run around the neighborhood with friends without tagalong parents -- how do you build in safeguards?

Unfortunately, we live in some challenging times. One way is to find out if there are any registered sex-offenders on your block or in your neighborhood.

Here's a LINK to check in your area.

Additionally, you need to go over the rules of safety with your kids; like never going into a person's home, and staying with your group - never get separated and never get into a stranger's car.

It's expected that over 41 million kids will take part in trick or treating -- make sure the evening is a happy and safe one for your child.
