Heartfulness Institute In Troy Offers Heart Meditation For Stress Relief

WWJ -- February is American Heart Month and one local institute is offering alternative ways to take care of your heart.

The Heartfulness Institute in Troy says meditation is a great stress-reliever and the much healthier alternative to things like junk food, alcohol and tobacco.

James Joseph with the Heartfulness Institute says they are offering free workshops on heart mediation on site or at your home or office.

"The Heartfulness Institute not only teaches meditation, but it also teaches heart-based emotional intelligence, which is a way to continue to take the condition you experience in meditation into our day-to-day lives, into our day-to-day interactions," Joseph told WWJ's Dr. Deanna Lites.

“The heart is used as the object of meditation," Joseph said. "And when you meditate on the heart, you get the heart to relax, you feel an expansion in the heart. That is something that really benefits people with cardiovascular conditions.”

The Heartfulness website says its program is "a beautifully simple practice of meditation that connects us with all the light and love in our hearts."
