Hit-And-Run Driver Charged With Killing Pedestrian On Michigan Avenue

December 12, 2018 - 10:27 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - Officials say a Detroit man who was arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash shouldn't have been driving.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's office has charged 28-year-old Rory Reyes-Euceda with operating with a suspended, revoked or denied license causing death and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

Investigators say Reyes-Euceda was driving a truck that hit 69-year old Gerard Kuras Sunday afternoon. Kuras was trying to cross Michigan Avenue near Cecil at the time. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Reyes-Euceda was arrested shortly after the crash not far from the scene.

If convicted as charged, Reyes-Euceda could spend 15 years in prison. He's expected to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday.
