Police are looking for the driver of the white vehicle

CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident along Gratiot Avenue early Monday morning.

Authorities say a Clinton Township man was killed while crossing the road just after midnight and the vehicle, described as a white truck, did not stop at the scene.

Police say the vehicle was traveling in the left lane of southbound Gratiot just past Wellington Crescent, when the victim was struck on the passenger side, breaking off the side-view mirror.

Rather than stopping, the truck turned around at a nearby car wash and left the scene heading northbound on Gratiot. Nearby security cameras were able to record the crash and the truck.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area or may have seen any part of this incident to contact them immediately.
