HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) - A northern Oakland County man is behind bars after authorities say he tried to meet an underage girl for sex in Macomb County.

According to officials with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Macomb Area Computer Enforcement (MACE) unit, 59-year-old Billy Goldsmith of Holly reached out to a social media profile he believed to belong to a 14-year-old girl, requesting to "hook up."

While the profile was being controlled by undercover detectives, Goldsmith allegedly continued to make inappropriate sexual conversation while being reminded of the female’s age several times.  After awhile, investigators allege, Goldsmith sent photographs of male genitalia and requested to meet with her for sexual purposes on Thursday.

He was given a Harrison Township address by the detectives; and when he showed up for the planned encounter he was arrested and lodged in the Macomb County Jail.

Goldsmith was arraigned in 41-B Clinton Township District Court Friday on four counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, a 20 year felony; one count of Computers – Internet – Communicating With Another to Commit Crime, a20 year felony; one count of Children – Accosting for Immoral Purposes, a 4 year felony; and one count of Computers – Using to Commit A crime, a 7 year felony.

Bond was set at $250,000 with the conditions that, if he is released, Goldsmith have no contact with minors, does not use computers or the internet, and wears a tether for home confinement.
