WARREN (WWJ) - A Detroit woman was killed last night in a crash involving a driver fleeing from Warren police.

The chase began on the other side of 8 Mile Road at Fairfield and ended less than a mile away in Detroit just south of 8 Mile on Fairport.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer tells WWJ the pursuit was by the book.

"The arrested person was driving at a high rate of speed, went through a couple stop signs, and broadsided the victim. In the car with the victims also -- was a 15-year-old," said Dwyer.

The car driven by the 28-year-old suspect broadsided the victim's car, which also injured a 15-year-old passenger. Reports say the victim is a 19-year-old woman.

Dwyer says the suspect had a list of priors and had a warrant for her arrest at the time.

The Detroit Police Fatal Squad is now investigating the crash.
