Late Summer Heat Wave About To Hit Metro Detroit

August 25, 2018 - 9:59 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - Get ready, because this next week is coming in hot.

Forecasters say a late summer heat wave is about to hit metro Detroit.

Things will really start to heat up after Saturday -- which will be dreary and humid with temps around 80 degrees and a chance of showers and thunderstorms all day.

The humidity will continue to rise Sunday, according to forecasters, with a high of 89 degrees and on-and-off sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures will feel more like 95 degrees.

The heat wave should peak on Monday, when plenty of sunshine will help thermometers reach around 91 degrees. Factor in the humidity and temperatures will feel more like 100 degrees.

Conditions will pretty much stay the same on Tuesday, which is expected to be breezy and party sunny with a high of 90 degrees -- but it will feel more like 95 degrees.

We'll finally see some relief from the heat on Wednesday, along with a possible shower or thunderstorm around. Otherwise, it should be partly sunny with highs in the low 80s.
